Lestrade:
Lestrade:
Mycroft:
That’s the Japanese I caught. You see mistakes (I’m particularly unsure on John’s “brilliant!”, really can’t catch that), let me know, I’ll fix them!
So, transliterations…
(VO) Gun wo intai shita boku ha, rondon de tsuka no ma no heiwa wo torimodoshita … hazu datta. Kono otoko ni au made ha.
Sherlock: Afuganisutan? Iraku?
John: Nande shitteru.
Senjou de fushou, hiyake to kureba, afuganisutan ka iraku da.
John: Anta, dare da.
Sherlock: Boku ha Sherlock Holmes (“Shaarokku Hoomuzu”). Juusho ha Beekaagai ni-ni-ichi no B.
VO: Boku ha hyon na koto kara, kono Sherlock Holmes to iu otoko to issho ni kurasu koto ni natta.
Sherlock: Boku ha konsarutanto tantei da. Sekai de tada hitori no ne.
Lestrade: Kite kure!
SO unsure on this. Morikawa, ffs, enunciate!)
Sherlock ha itsumo kiken to tonariawase. Shikashi boku ha itsunomanika sono kiken ni hikarete it(t?)a…
Mycroft: senjou wo wasuretagatte ha inai. Koishiin da.
VO: Sou. Kou shite, Sherlock to no bouken ga hajimatta.
… and finally, quick-n-dirty translations. This is where it gets *fun*, because they throw around the term “kokoro” (meaning “heart, mind, psyche”) around quite … happily.
(VO/John) Having left the army, I was supposed to find a moment of peace in London. Was supposed to… until I met this man.
Sherlock: Afghanistan? Iraq?
John: How do you know?
Sherlock: It’s an easy deduction. Seeing you don’t for a chair, your symptoms must stem from a psychological wound. A wound that traumatic probably stems from the battlefield. Wounded in action, suntan … Afghanistan or Iraq.
John: Who are you[1]?
Sherlock: I[2] am Sherlock Holmes, the address is 2-2-1 B Baker Street.
VO: That’s how I unexpectedly came to live
togetherwiththis man namedSherlock Holmes.Sherlock: I’m an consulting detective. The only one in the world, mind.
Lestrade: Please come.
Lestrade: young people found her, she hasn’t been dead long.
Sherlock: The pocket in her left pocket is dry, it was too windy for her to use it. Even though she must’ve come from out of town (lit. “a far-away place”), it can’t be more than two or three hours away, because her coat is still wet. The [one] place with strong wind and rainfalls within two or three hours of [travel] distance is Cardiff.
John: ??? *
(VO) Before I knew it, I’d become Sherlock’s partner. Wherever Sherlock is, danger is always near by. And in no time at all, I’d been pulled in by that danger.
Mycroft: It’s not that you wish to forget the battlefield … you miss it.
John: That’s it/He’s right. In some corner of my heart, I’d been yearning for adventure. And that tickling curiosity, Sherlock set on fire. ( = he kindled a spark of curiosity into a flame)
This is how the adventure with Sherlock begins.
[1]the “you” he uses is … not one you’d usually use politely with someone you just met. Might as well be “who IN FUCKS NAME are you?”
[2] The “I” he uses here? Makes him sound ABOUT TWELVE.
* if it’s what I think he says, it’s something like “brilliant deduction”, but … huh? HALP.The stuff in the end is just “then and then, this telly station, watch!” type stuff.
I am actually jonesing to see this. It looks absolutely PAINFUL (John’s VOICE. And I thought the German dub was so-so.), but I’m dying to see what they did with … pretty much any fandom-relevant scene, really.
